Major gripe.
Every time I go to the Technorati website, Firefox 0.9.3 freezes up; I get the hourglass and ‘Not Responding’ in the title bar. Yet if I visit Technorati with Internet Explorer or Maxthon, no problem every time. I commented on this behaviour in a post a few weeks ago.
I’ve deleted the cache, restarted the computer, and it still does it every single time! Whether I click a URL or manually type it in the address bar, it happens. I’ve posted questions about this in the Firefox support forum, no real help (replies I have got are along the lines of “works ok when I do it…”).
I haven’t uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox. Surely that’s extreme and a really unacceptable solution in order to access a website, if that is the solution.
Am I the only one on the planet with this gripe?
Not sure what might be causing it, but I might have a solution for you.
We have a typepad/technorati toolbar for firefox. It searches google, technorati, bloglines, and an bunch of other engines.
It also has direct links to TypePad’s blogthis, post blog, and photoalbums.
Finally, it has Technorati’s Cosmos on the bar so you can immediately see who and how many, are pointing to a given blog.

I hope that helps.

Thanks for the tip. Pat.
Neat stuff on your company’s site! I installed the Technorati toolbar and it works just fine – clicking the link from the toolbar for the Technorati site lets me go there without problem.
Doesn’t resolve whatever the underlying issue is, though – once there, if I click a link on the web page, Firefox freezes up.
I see Mozilla just announced the availability of version 0.10 prerelease of Firefox. Maybe upgrading to that may fix the underlying issue.
Stay tuned…
Neville, the firefox upgrade is pretty sweet. If you get it, be sure to grab our new bar that is compatible with it.

Good luck.. I hope the upgrade solves that problem for you.
