Amazon’s cool A9 search engine

This looks very, very nice – the new A9 search engine from Amazon.

Wow! Features galore to customize how it looks and feels and how it searches. It’s closely connected with Amazon, so if you already have an account with Amazon, you can log in and personalize your A9.

Description from A9:

A9.com is a powerful search engine, using web search and image search results enhanced by Google, Search Inside the Book™ results from Amazon.com, reference results from GuruNet, movies results from IMDb, and more.

A9.com remembers your information. You can keep your own notes about any web page and search them; it is a new way to store and organize your bookmarks; it even recommends new sites and favorite old sites specifically for you to visit. With the A9 Toolbar all your web browsing history will be stored, allowing you (and only you!) to retrieve it at any time and even search it; it will tell you if you have any new search results, or the last time you visited a page.

A9.com, Inc. researches and builds innovative technologies to improve search experience for e-commerce applications. A separately branded and operated subsidiary of Amazon.com, Inc., A9.com opened its Palo Alto, California, doors in October 2003. A9.com’s technology will power search on Amazon.com and other web sites. We are hiring. See our jobs page.

Talk about added value. With such a solid backer as Amazon, this looks like it will really shake up the search engine business.
