What do you get when a group of opinionated communicators with blogs get together? A real mashup of opinion, commentary and very lively conversation, that’s what.
So it was on Saturday in Copenhagen when I was fortunate to meet with The Copenhagen Bloggers, the cream of the Danish blogosphere who you see in this photo. From left: Jesper Bindslev, Jacob Bรธtter, Allan Jenkins, Henriette Weber, Trine-Maria Kristensen and Jon Froda.
We had a terrific few hours over brunch (excellent food in the Cafe Andre Citroen) exchanging thoughts, ideas and opinions – lots of ’em – about blogging, podcasting, communication, you name it. Even a new concept – stinkcasting (ask Jacob or Jon about that one).
You can hear some of the thoughts and opinions from this eclectic group if you tune in on Monday 23 January to show #105 of For Immediate Release: The Hobson and Holtz Report podcast. I recorded those thoughts and opinions for inclusion in tomorrow’s show.
Speaking of podcasts, Jacob and I met up before we all got together where he interviewed me for his podcast. We had a great 20-minute discussion about social media and communication – you can grab the file here (MP3, 19Mb).
The prime reason why I was in Copenhagen was a client meeting which we had on Friday. That evening, we dined in the Era Ora, clearly one of Copenhagen’s outstanding restaurants whatever the cuisine. Era Ora is what I would call "designer Italian" – but Italian food as you might not know it. A series of beautifully-presented dishes complete with samplings of excellent Italian wines made this a culinary treat. Even though I tend to be a meat-and-potatoes kind of diner, this Michelin-starred restaurant really is quite an experience (one review here).
My visit coincided with what local TV news was calling the worst snow-storm in many years. Nearly all public transportation was paralyzed throughout Friday. No flights in or out of Copenhagen airport – not so much because of the snow itself, more due to the snow freezing thus requiring time-consuming de-icing of planes and runways – so when I showed up there on Saturday afternoon for my flight to Amsterdam, I was expecting delays if not a cancellation. Luckily the KLM flight was operating albeit with an hour’s delay in departure. Lots of others flights were cancelled, notably more than 20 of those operated by SAS.
During my visit, I took a few photos with my Nokia N70. Such a cool cameraphone!
I couldn’t post any to my moblog with Lifeblog: the cell network my phone defaulted to connecting with wasn’t 3G, just GSM, which resulted in a posting error if I tried to post. I could have posted via email but, boy, is that slow compared to posting via Lifeblog. Plus there are limitations with doing it via email, eg, titling the post, adding text, etc.
But I’ve now uploaded those snaps to Flickr. I might post one or two to the moblog.
All in all, a terrific visit and meeting some terrific people. Thanks, everyone, for such tremendous hospitality!
