blinkx: A new way to search

Interesting desktop application – blinkx. It links together information from files on your own computer, and can suggest content from news sites, the internet, video and blogs.

The developers say it’s not designed to replace current search engines like Google or Yahoo, but is a completely new way to use information on and from the internet.

Looks like this new tool could be very useful in helping find, organize and manipulate the different types and volumes of information that you need in a typical business environment, not only on the internet but also on your own PC. Effectively integrating those two types of searches would be a boon.

Download free from blinkx. Currently for Windows only.

See a good commentary by Shel Holtz on blinkx as an early entry in the adaptive workspace.

  2. I just downloaded blinkx 2.0 and have discovered how easy it is to use. i really like the smart folders feature, and its amazing that blinkx is the only one out there with it.
I dont think blinkx is trying to replace the old search engines, it sort of searches differently than they do. it isnt a key word search, and will search for you based on waht it sees you like.
blinkx is very cool, i must say.
