I wonder if this will get as much media attention as happens every time a new security gap is known about Windows, leading to hotfixes, updates or patches.
Apple has released a security update to fix more than a dozen flaws in the Jaguar and Panther versions of the Macintosh operating system, Internetnews.com reports.
According to an advisory from Apple, the most serious flaw could permit remote attackers to execute arbitrary code and potentially take over a user’s system.

That bit about the most serious flaw will sound familiar to Windows users. I suppose one big difference here in Macintosh OS vs. Windows is that such things happen oh so too frequently with Windows
Mind you, it’s a lot less with Windows XP SP2 – another reason why installing the upgrade makes a lot of sense. Come to think of it, I’ve had only one update since I installed SP2 in the first week of August, related to Microsoft VM which I installed after SP2 (so it likely would have been patched in the SP2 upgrade if I’d installed it before).
