Copernic gets grade A from Slate

After I posted yesterday about Copernic Desktop Search, I came across a review of five search tools in Slate, covering Ask Jeeves, HotBot, Google Desktop Search, MSN Toolbar Suite and Copernic Desktop Search.

When I read the review, my first reaction was: Where’s X1? Blinkx? This doesn’t look like a good comparison. An explanation by reviewer Paul Boutin:

If your favorite (X1, Blinkx, Lookout, etc) isn’t in there, it’s because we focused on those that are (a) free and (b) being mass-marketed by the big Web portals – AOL, Google, HotBot, Ask Jeeves, and MSN. Yahoo’s X1-powered app isn’t available yet.

Ok, fair enough.

Bottom line – Slate’s view on which is the best one: Copernic Desktop Search.

Enough said.

  1. Copernic was by far the best of the bunch ….until
a bug creepeed in. Now, it is impossible to use it on my new system. It looks like it goes into an infinite loop and crashes. I tried many times loading and starting from scratch, the same bug appears. It is best IF IT WORKS….
