IABC blog disappointment continues

Today’s the 30th anniversary of the IABC Chair blog. Clarification – the 30th consecutive day since anything was posted to the blog. Fellow IABC members and bloggers Shel Holtz and Allan Jenkins have some comments about this today, and some good suggestions on what IABC can do to get back on track with the blog. […]

Amnesty for Windows XP pirates

Microsoft is offering an olive branch to users of pirated versions of Windows XP, eWeek reports. Yesterday, Microsoft unveiled the Windows XP Counterfeit Project in the UK, offering free replacements for what it describes as "high-quality counterfeit versions" of Windows XP. It is not yet clear, eWeek said, if the offer will be expanded to […]

The free-falling US dollar

How much worse can it get? The Wall Street Journal says today: Skeptical markets drove the dollar to another all-time low Thursday against the euro, with the European currency climbing above $1.32 for the first time. The euro rose to a new high for a third consecutive day, breaking through Wednesday’s record of $1.3178. It […]

A perfect visualization

Here’s a great contribution to the growing amount of information out there on the broad topic of why an organization should blog: Imagine a room with tens of thousands of your customers talking about your company and your products. That’s one way to think about the blogging community (the blogosphere). The choice for companies is […]

Target’s reality trip

So US retailer Target Corporation is offering marijuana for sale on its e-commerce website. Is this a pending PR crisis in the blogosphere? Steve Rubel thinks so. I’d be inclined to agree with Steve. Start with the blogosphere – as in Nathan Weinberg’s post at Inside Google with its headline “Taget [sic] pushes drugs” – […]

The Incredibles is just that

We went to see The Incredibles yesterday which opened in The Netherlands last Thursday. I’d agree with every comment I’ve seen on many blogs already – an astounding film, definitely worth seeing. From Pixar Studios via Disney, who did Toy Story, A Bug’s Life, Monsters Inc and Finding Nemo. If you’ve seen any of Pixar’s […]

The Daily Telegraph reports that discussions between the two groups took place earlier this month but failed to reach an agreement on the terms of a possible merger. However, the prospect of a […]

Google stumbles with desktop search

In PC World‘s January 2005 edition: “Google Desktop Search puts the index of your data in a well-known place on your hard drive,” says Stephen Green, principal investigator of the Advanced Search Technologies Group at Sun Microsystems. “It’s only a matter of time before there is a spyware application or a worm that sends your […]

Konfabulator bugfix release

It’s about Target’s reputation

It has been interesting seeing the different reactions to the Target marijuana story during the past few days. Web Pro News has a good summary of events, including an explanation of how Target’s e-commerce website works as a front-end for Amazon.com. Whatever you see on Target’s website, they don’t really sell marijuana, it seems. Neither […]

Apple blogs

I’ve not seen this news on any blogs – maybe I just missed it – but Apple started a corporate* blog on 28 November. The Apple Blog * CORRECTION: No, it’s not actually a corporate blog, as pointed out in the comments to this post. Not even an Apple blog. It’s a blog about Apple.
