BeOS gets a new life

Hey anyone remember the funky ole BeOS which became such a darling of the hackers, and died a horrible death with Apple chose to buy NextOS and bring back Steve Jobs. Well looks like it is not dead after all, thanks to a German software start-up, Yellow Tab. They have turned BeOS into ZetaOS, a new twist on BeOS.

Funny reading this because I always notice whenever I visit Wincustomize to see what’s happening there with things like new skins for WindowBlinds, that one of the skins that always appears in my search list is BeOS. In particular, BeOS_v6 created in January 2002.

I’ve commented before about WindowBlinds, which is an application that lets you change the look and feel of your Windows desktop.

With over 63,000 downloads of the BeOS_v6 skin so far, there are an awful lot of people out there who like the look of BeOS. Maybe a niche marketing opportunity for Yellow Tab.
