I’ve been using Blogrolling for the past month as the aggregator for my blog links. Great service, no complaints. Today, though, I noticed that my blogroll wasn’t showing up in my blog, in the left column. Going to the Blogrolling website and trying to log in produced this fatal error message: Using a service like […]

Testing BlogJet
I’ve just installed an interesting application – BlogJet, a desktop Windows client for creating and managing posts offline. I’ll be trying this out in the coming days.
Testing ecto
Now testing not only BlogJet, but also ecto for Windows 1.0.8.
BlogJet and ecto quick first impressions
Both these offline blog publishing tools are very nice. Easy to install (ecto requires .NET Framework) and easy to set up for access to TypePad with the whole procedure basically automatic, nothing to configure: just add user name and login password and you’re set. I’ve created and posted one post with each so far but […]
Unreliable Blogrolling
Something’s clearly wrong at Blogrolling. Following my post on Friday re my blogroll not appearing on this blog, it’s doing the same again today. Trying to connect to the Blogrolling website just now produces a ‘connection refused’ error message. This is such a shame as it’s a very good service. But I’ve seen increasing numbers […]
Great communication, Blogrolling – not!
While my Blogrolling blogroll seems to be working ok today (unlike over the weekend – see post), I see from the comments in the breaking news page on their website that there are an increaing number of very unhappy users, especially those who have taken up the paid Blogrolling service. What’s driving the unhappiness seems […]
Rescuing relationships for Blogrolling
The frustrations of the past four days for Blogrolling users – me included – look like coming to a positive conclusion. Last night, there finally was a detailed explanation from Blogrolling’s Ross Rader on what happened re the planned migration to a new server – and what went wrong over the weekend and why there […]
BlogJet and Ecto reviewed
For the past ten days, I’ve been using BlogJet and ecto to create some of my posts. Both these applications are offline blog editing tools which let you manage your post content wholly offline, creating your content on your own computer and then publishing that content to your blog. I’m going to focus my comments […]
Ecto does support thumbnails
In my review of BlogJet and ecto that I posted this morning, I said that ecto does not support the creation and posting of thumbnail images to a TypePad blog. Well, that isn’t correct as ecto developer Alex Hung commented. Indeed, when I checked the options in ecto for Windows version 1.0.8.4 that I’m now […]

Technorati: Blogosphere ‘doubling at regular pace’
A month ago, I posted commentary on the rising influence and rapid growth of weblogs. That post included comment on how many blogs Technorati tracks and what blog growth looked like. I quoted figures from Technorati as at the end of July when Technorati reported it tracked 3 million blogs. When I posted my commentary […]
