Dec 13, 2002 — Finally joing the thousands who already publish blogs. This blog will include random and occasional musings and comment on anything that grabs my attention.

Global PR Blog Week 1.0
An interesting, perhaps even seminal, online event has been taking place this week – the first global PR blog event. As described on the website www.globalprblogweek.com: “The Global PR Blog Week 1.0 is an online event that will engage PR, marketing and business bloggers from around the globe in a discussion about blogging and […]
Global PR Blog Week 1.0
The Global PR Blog Week 1.0 that I mentioned in a post yesterday looks as though it’s been quite a success. With such a wide range of discussion topics and comments, there’s something for everyone who has an interest in blogging as a PR tool. But discussion topics don’t just include the ones you’d […]
Business Blogs: The Unstoppable Force
I keep dipping back into Global PR Blog Week 1.0. There are some excellent and thought-provoking discussions going on that it’s worth spending time just browsing the website and picking up on topics of interest to comment on. One of the best pieces is an interview with Robert Scoble at Microsoft by Trevor Cook, […]
Picasa and Hello: a good combination
One week after announcing that it had snapped up Picasa, Google is promoting the acquired company on its home page, encouraging users to “download Picasa from Google” for free. Before the acquisition, Picasa had been selling version 1.6 of its software for $29. See PC World story: PCWorld.com – Google Gives Away Digital Photo App […]
I’ve been trying to figure
I’ve been trying to figure out how Atom and XML feeds work so that I can include this blog into the feed distribution networks so if you have an RSS feed, you can get NevOn blog posts in your reader. No need to figure now, thanks to a new free service that I just signed […]
Bill C’s Blog?
Check out this blog that looks like it’s authored by Bill Clinton. Hosted on Blog*Spot (where my blog’s hosted), but can’t find out who’s behind this excellent parody. I’d love to know! Or is it really Bill?? (Sorry about my less-than-gushing comments, Bill, on your biography in a post yesterday…) Bill Clinton Daily Diary
Making a Move to Typepad?
I started a blog on Blog*Spot in December 2002. Trouble was, I really didn’t know what I wanted to do with it. I had a half-hearted attempt at writing some posts that were just ramblings, really, which I did sporadically. Really useful stuff like what the weather’s like in Amsterdam. I made a three-quarter-hearted effort […]
Trying out Typepad
I’ve just started a new blog on Typepad at http://nevon.typepad.com I’m experimenting. While Blog*Spot (where my current blog is) is good, I want to do more with the blog and how information is organized and presented. I’ll contine to update this current blog while I play with the new one which will continue to have […]
Developing some Passion
I discovered a well-written article about blogging and its future as an organizational communication tool. Written in March by Trevor Cook, director of a PR firm in Sydney, Australia, and published in his Corporate Engagement blog, the article explores and comments on how blogs are developing beyond purely online versions of personal diaries and evolving […]
Time for your blog
There are so many neat things out there in the wide web world that add functionality to a website or blog and make it look rather cool as well. Many are free yet represent a considerable amount of time and energy to develop. I came across something today that is well done in its implementation […]
Meet the political bloggers
From today’s Wall Street Journal. This report is about how blogging is a potent communication force in US politics. Another sign that blogging is rapidly catching on in a big way as a more structured and organized means of communication. Excerpt: The Democratic Party is widening its media tent for the Boston convention. For the […]
The Empire Blogs Back
The promise of blogs, wikis and social networks to upend business as usual was on display at a high-powered conference on Friday, when blogging software company Six Apart and evangelists from Microsoft co-chaired a panel detailing how these tools lead to better customer relationships. In something of a throwback to the halcyon days of the […]
Still in Two Minds
Thinking more about whether to switch blogs from Blog*Spot to Typepad. Both have their pros and cons. Blog*Spot is a far easier system to use. Could be, though, that I’m now up to speed with how to use it. Typepad is also easy to use and I’ve certainly not used it as much as Blog*Spot. […]
‘Bandwagon’ media blogs at US Democratic convention
CNN and the BBC are two of the international broadcast media who have embraced blogging in a big way as part of their news coverage of the US Democratic National Convention (DNC) this week. Both broadcasters have blogs on their websites with frequent comment from journalists covering the event. This is an excellent move by […]
Dinner with Bill Gates
Fascinating article by Jeff Maurone, a Microsoft employee and blogger, describing an evening and dinner with Bill Gates. “About twenty minutes into the event Bill casually descended the stairs from the personal side of the home: no fanfare, no introduction, just the Chief Software Architect. Instantly there started a massive migration from around the lawn […]
Blogging and business moving mainstream
Reuters reported today that “the growth in the number of blogs, and those who read them, continues to attract attention from business leaders … as a means of enhancing companies’ communication more directly with employees, partners and customers.” They couldn’t have said it better or more succintly! In their report, Reuters quote an IBM executive […]
It’s now NevOn Typepad
So I made the move – exported all posts from the blog on Blog*Spot, imported into this blog. Easy to do, thanks to the clear guidance in the Typepad help system. The old blog will stay live, with a re-directer to this blog. I’ll get to that bit in the next day or so.
Defining a corporate blog
If you visit any of the blogs run by people in the communication business, you’ll find increasing numbers of articles and discussion on corporate blogging: blogs by companies and other organizations. Much discussion is taking place on why and how to do it (including this lively topic, A Very Brief look at Blogging for the […]
BBC wants top political blogs
BBC News Online is looking for political blogs, preferably with a UK focus. “We are looking for lively, thought-provoking sites that stimulate genuine debate, rather than just pushing a particular narrow viewpoint or agenda, but all suggestions are welcome,” they said. The BBC plans to feature as many as possible over the next few weeks. […]
